Bryan's Report |
------
On sunday the wheather started off beautifully. So Eduardo, Dyrce and I went out to the suburb of Boca where I could go and take some photos and have some fun. La Boca is a very well known place and is used by many tourists around the world so I was happy to go and take some photos. |
------------
After that we set off to find and take more photos of some great landmarks of Buenos Aires as well as going to the Galerias Pacifico which is a very nice shopping centre with beautiful decorations due to upcoming Christmas. |

The next mourning Eduardo and I went to training. The trainers decided that today would have a gym session and then a run so we stayed at the stadium to train.
|
--------------
After training Eduardo and I had to stay until later on to watch the River Plate veterans play a match against Tigre. While we were waiting we saw some of the first team players coming out after they just finished training so i took a photo with both Robert Flores and Augusto Fernandez.
|

When the match between River Plate veterans and Tigre Veterans was about to start none other then Enzo Francescoli walked onto the pitch and i quickly told Eduardo that I wanted a photo with the River Plate Legend, so we ran down and took a picture with the great man. |

The main difference between the players here in Argentina and the players in Australia is that the players here are much more skillful with the ball and are not afraid to dribble when they have to, also they fight for the ball all the time, I learnt this from the first training session. As much as the players seem really laid back and relaxed and muck around, when it comes to the match they are more serious and more focused. Some players can look good and play well, but every one is human and if someone can make it so can you and me. |
----------------
After training in the next morning Eduardo and I had lunch with his boss Gustavo and another man (Chief of Kempes Soccer Inc.)who was there with about 40 kids from Venezuela who were there for a small tournament. Eduardo started telling him about me playing for Australia and how good and strong I am. So then the man explained to the 40 kids about me and said that i would be playing for River Plate first team next year and all the kids started rushing towards me asking for an autograph and a photo with me. I think I signed about 100 things. It had to have been one of the most funniest things that ever happened to me cause I was so shocked when they all pushed each other a side just to get my autograph. |

On Friday there was no training for my age group so instead of doing nothing Eduardo told me to go with the group one year younger and play a game and then after there would be a BBQ. So Eduardo and I went with them where we played a half pitch game and had a great time. After we had the BBQ, then we headed back to the club. On the bus the boys started singing chants the whole way back. I have never seen so much passion in the singing. They were singing because they were Champions this year. I had a great time and enjoyed myself a lot.

Week 3

On Sunday Eduardo and I were going to go to the River Plate Vs Argentinos Jrs. match, which was really exciting for me because this was the first match I have ever been to watch River Plate play and I could enjoy the atmosphere of the truely passionate fans here in Argentina. Although River Plate lost 2-1 it was a great experience for me to watch the match and the singing and dancing crowd.

On Monday and Tuesday the training was going to be matches. There are many things that I have learnt here in Argentina which are great, but the one bad thing that many of the players dont do is a warm-up. Which is a very bad thing because you could pull a muscle and hurt yourself very badly. This is mainly due to the laziness of some of the players where all they want to do is just get up and play simple as that. That is one of the major differences in the mentality here in Argentina and in Australia where a lot of the players do a lot of hard work and are much more proffessional.

Every week that I have been here they new boys arrive to trial to get into River Plate, on Wednesday a group came which had 2 brothers that came from USA who are twins, but were originally born here in Argentina. The good thing was that they spoke english which was really good to hear because apart from Eduardo no-one else spoke english. They both came from playing with the MLS team FC Dallas in the youth academy. From what I have seen they are good players and I hope they do well. They names are Gabriel and Romeo Funes.
